Have You Thought About Closing Your Window for Weight Loss?

Have you heard about shortening your window of eating? It’s a great simple strategy to help you achieve and/or maintain your healthy weight.

Think about this – if we spend our day from morning to bedtime grazing, snacking, picking – whatever  you want to call it – then when does our body get a break from working on digestion?

It’s our bodies’ job to break down our food into nutrients for our body to build and repair and sustain our life. Oftentimes, when we sleep, we are finally giving the body a chance to work on building and repairing our cells since we aren’t currently asking it to focus on digestion. If we eat all through the day and then sleep only 6 or 7 hours, we are really asking our body to work overtime on digestion to the point that the other important functions are going to be neglected and truncated.

Therefore, one great strategy that I often share is to shorten that eating window – at least a bit by cutting off eating 3 hours before bedtime.

Our bodies then get to have a break from digestion a bit – at least for a portion of the time while we sleep. Then the body can focus on building and repairing our tissues to grow stronger muscles, repair injuries and so on.

  • I have to say, this is a very unique perspective as regards to weight loss. I have never come across the idea of closing the eating window to allow our body more room to work on the building and processes. On that note, I’m sure there’ll be tons to learn from the upcoming workshop. Also, the idea that the combination of patience and perseverance is vital to healthy living and personal achievement is on point. This has been really informative. Thanks

Hi Shanta, Thank you for your comments and your praise! I can’t wait to here your experience with it!

  • Yes, Patricia.  I have heard of closing the window for weight loss as you put it.  Basically meaning that you stop eating early enough to give your digestive system a break, so it rests while you rest.

I believe this is a very good idea, and i also believe it helps to keep weight down as well as helps to prevent us from getting bigger tummies because by doing this we allow all the food in our digestive system to be processed completely instead of continually adding foods that will in turn have to go through the digestive process meaning more work for our systems and the possibility of foods passing through the system without proper digestion.

Hi Don, thank you for your comments! I can tell that you know a lot about health and digestion so you are on the right course. Stay strong my friend!

  • Hello! Your title is catchy. I initially thought you meant literally closing a window!

Thank you for the tip. I have to tell this to my wife. She was snacking well past midnight last night.

On the extreme side, a friend of mine only has 1 healthy meal a day and he even goes to the gym. I have no clue where he gets the energy. He’s healthy and muscular so apparently eating less and moving more is a great formula. I think this is how people did it back in the day.

Hey Sunny, I love your comments and personal observations! I bet your friend on the OMAD diet (one meal a day) eats enough food for 2-3 meals at that one time. I have done this strategy myself with great success. The only drawback I found is that it messes with your normal appetite so much that you forget how to eat a ‘normal’ one meal when life demands it. have a great day!

Eating frequency is definitely a very important variable when you’re looking for losing weight and gaining muscular mass. Muscle gets build when it heals from the injuries created when pushing them to their limits.

Thanks for delivering a great post in regards to this simple strategy that could bring many good results to us.

I’m willing to know about upcoming events!
